 Free Quit Meters

Remember all these sites have installation instructions please take the time to read them as well as contacts for help.  There is further help below and on our How Too Message Board.

Smoke Free Stats

"Smoke Free Stats" is a quit meter that keeps track of the hours, days, weeks and months since you've quit, the amount of live regained, the number of cigarettes not smoked and the money you've saved. This software will also keep track of all of the quit statistics for 9 other quitters as well. Keeps track of how many cigarettes you haven't smoked, how much money you've saved and a host of other details and features.  Doesn't have a hot key paste in feature.

Quit Keeper

Features

  • Keeps track of the increasing price of cigarettes.
  • Easy to install - easy to use.
  • Easy to customize.
  • Small, fast and efficient.
  • Keeps track of your milestones and those of your buddies.

SilkQuit v2.50

This is the official world wide web site for SilkQuit™. It contains the latest releases of the SilkQuit™ meter, a program which tracks a number of statistics to monitor a person's progress while quiting smoking.  However, for reasons unknown to me and others it doesn't run with ME, Windows Millinium Edition as as far as I know the maker of SilkQuit hasn't corrected this.  If they do and you find out, please let me know.  For now ME users please use Smokefree Stats, or the On-Line Quit Meter.

On-Line Quit Meter .

There is no download with this on-line Quit Meter. Just put this link in your favorites file and anytime you want to know your stats just pull up the site, insert your quit date and instant stats without any download. The draw back is that you can't post your stats with a click of a button but this site will help you get the hang of working with a meter and will allow you to join in parades and post your stats without downloading and without any training.

HyperQuit for Mac Users

HyperQuit is for Mac users only and has several neat features, including speech.   When you press the speech-button HyperQuit speaks the number of cigarettes not smoked.

How to Download and get Quit Meters UP and Running

Remember all these sites have installation instructions please take the time to read them.

Right click on blue link to Quit Meter which will take you to their site.  Read their information, instructions and if satisfied that it will meet your needs AND can be run on your computer (they often list which ones, like Windows'98, 2000, ME, NT and so forth) . When it shows you where (what file) it is downloading it to, make a note of it and if you want it downloaded to another file then change it before the download begins (I put mine in my Programs file), you may also want to change what it is called, some go by numbers, you can backspace this out and put in Quit Keeper or SmokedFree, etc.   Most download to your Programs Files.  If the installation Wizard did not give you the option to open have set to your desktop/start menu/toolbar (the last of these is what you want for quick copy and paste into posts) the site it comes from will tell you which are they "hot keys" for quick paste in of stats if they have one.  If no installation Wizard appears then when download is complete go to your Program files and Right click on Quit Meter file and select "Run Program".  The file will open and start the upload process to your taskbar or make a short cut to your desktop,  just follow their directions.  If it does go to your desktop then right click on that to load to your taskbar.

Enter in all your Quit smoking information as you would like. Then close and it will run on your taskbar.

Smoke Free Stats:  Put your cursor where you want your stats to be entered. Click on your stats that are on your taskbar and it will open up on screen.  Click on "copy to clipboard", minimize the SmokeFree Box and press your Control and Paste Key (mine is V) at the same time.

Silkquit:  I couldn't get the new version of Silkquit to download and I am using Windows ME and I have heard of quite a few people using ME having the same problem.  However, for fast cut and paste of your stats, put your cursor where you want your stats to be and then press your Control and = Key at the same time.

Quit Time:  For fast copy and paste press your Control Key, Shift Key and Paste Key (V, for me) all at the same time. Sometimes you have to do this several times to get them to paste in, I found it too frustrating and went with another Quit Meter instead

Quit Keeper:  Fast copy right click on it's icon on your taskbar a menu comes up and on it says copy stats, highlight that, then press Control & V Key at same time.
