General tips
1. Don't eat yellow snow - ever.
Curium tips
1. Watch way out to sea to observe white caps developing on the water. (When/if they do, monitor your forward penetration, get your speedbar out and be prepared to land before it gets too windy).
2. Curium - keep an eye on the clouds above Mount Olympus. If it starts to develop into towering cumulus, it can quickly become CB and the wind can increase dramatically at Curium, blowing on or off-shore.
Paragliding tips
1. The windier it is the slower you need to bring the canopy up.
2. The windier it is the further forward you need to be on the launch point.
3. If you use someone to anchor you and you both get dragged back, its too f***ing windy, so give up before someone gets hurt.
4. If its windy at launch, have your speed bar out before you take off so you can get on it straight away if necessary.
5. If it seems too windy or too westerly the wind, then go to the lower sandpit launch point, which is about 100m to the left/east of the main launch point and check it out. It is a bit lower and the wind is usually about 5mph less there.
6. If you find yourself having to land into a strong breeze (+15mph, white caps on the sea, only just making headway), line up your approach. You can make slight adjustments in direction and apply some flare by pulling gently and not too much on either or both rear risers. Then just before touching down, take hold of the top of both the D/rear or the C risers. Just as your feet touch the ground, simultaneously turn and pull both rear risers smoothly down. This is the quickest way to kill the wing.
